# The Membership Process

The end-to-end process of adding a user to a successful membership being completed.

Membership in AXIS can feel complicated, but once you understand the end-to-end process, it's actually very easy to add leads or students and move them through to successfully configured memberships.

**A student can only check into class once a memberhsip has been created for them.**

This diagram shows the full process to create a **Stripe** or **Debit Success** membership. For memberships using the AXIS Default package (for payments taken in cash or other bank transfer methods), the last step is not required.

You will need to understand the [verification process](https://help.axismartialarts.com/en/article/the-verification-process) as this is a critical step for onboarding new users. You will need to explain to your leads and students what to expect. 

There are 2 times a user must do something on the way to a successful membership.

1.  **Verify their account when they have been added as a lead or student.**
2.  **Complete the membership process by signing the membership agreement.**
