# Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

For added security of your school data.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) a security system that requires more than one method of verifying a user's identity before granting access to an account or system. MFA adds a strong layer of security because even if someone steals your password, they can’t get in without the other security factors.

AXIS has a **two-factor system,** which requires the use of an authenticator app on your mobile device.

**Here's how to set it up...**

1.  Navigate to your school **Settings.**
2.  Go to **Account Settings.**
3.  Scroll to the **Security** section at the bottom.
4.  Hit **Enable** for Two-factor authentication.
5.  In your authenticator app on your phone, scan the QR code shown.
6.  Then type in the **six digit number** shown in your authenticator app.
7.  The next time you log into AXIS, you will be asked for the **six digit number** shown in your authenticator app.
